New Jersey Ballet’s Spring Forward program will feature a new work to the Company’s repertory – Not Our Fate, by former New York City Ballet principal dancer and resident choreographer of Paul Taylor Dance Company, Lauren Lovette. The ensemble work is set for ten dancers and had its world premiere at New York City Ballet’s Fashion Gala in 2017.
The program will also feature This Bitter Earth, a pas de deux from Christopher Wheeldon’s Five Movements, Three Repeats. This poetic pas de deux explores the haunting and tenuous melodies of the music.
Another highlight will be George Balanchine’s Tschaikovsky Pas de Deux. The pas de deux is an eight minute display of ballet bravura and technique.
This program will open with Purcell Suite, which had its world premiere and received rave reviews at New Jersey Ballet’s Season Opener at MPAC in November. With choreography by New York City Ballet principal dancer Harrison Ball, and costumes by world renowned fashion designer Zac Posen, this exquisite work returns to the stage by popular demand.
