Leap Into Spring

New Jersey Ballet’s Leap into Spring mixed repertory program will captivate audiences with a stellar lineup of ballet masterpieces. Revel in the brilliance of George Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco. This extraordinary ballet transforms music into a visual symphony, as two gracefully dynamic lead ballerinas embody the essence of a virtuosic double violin concerto. Celebrated as the quintessential Balanchine ballet of its era, Concerto Barocco exudes purity in its manner, presenting choreography that serves as an ideal response to Bach’s Double Violin Concerto in D Minor.

Adding to the evening’s enchantment is Not Our Fate, a compelling and emotionally charged work by Lauren Lovette, former principal dancer at the New York City Ballet and resident choreographer of the Paul Taylor Dance Company. As the performance unfolds, experience the invigorating and poignant energy of Lovette’s choreography.

Christopher Wheeldon’s After the Rain takes center stage, featuring a mesmerizing pas de deux set to Arvo Pärt’s solemn Spiegel im Spiegel. Against the backdrop of a minimalist stage, a couple dressed in simple attire performs a tender dance brimming with heartfelt emotions, making it an exquisite addition to the evening’s repertoire.

The excitement continues with the Don Quixote Act III wedding pas de deux, showcasing explosive technical prowess that electrifies the stage. Leap into Spring promises an evening of unparalleled artistry, where each piece contributes to a symphony of dance that celebrates New Jersey Ballet’s 65th Anniversary Season.

Residents of our state have access to a three hundred year-old dance tradition, frequently on their doorsteps. New Jersey Ballet is an assemblage of professional dancers who embody the highest standards of technique and artistry and they are OURS!!!”
