Background

This event is presented as part of our free Arts in the Community series, generously supported by ADP. With our Arts in Community program we continue our commitment to providing creative arts programming to spaces outside of the Theater. We strive to be inclusive and to provide opportunities for local and emerging artists to perform, network and express themselves.

Jeiris Cook, father of 3 boys, husband, producer and R&B artist, hails from the south and has deep musical roots there. Coming from a long generation of both musicians and vocalists, Jeiris’ talent captures and harnesses those skills through his songwriting and vocal delivery.

Singing since the age of 5, he started in choirs, particularly the church his grandparents attended every Sunday. From there, he became influenced by the musical vibes of Michael Jackson, 90s R&B and later soul music of the 60s and 70s.

In high school, he sang with a quartet that modeled themselves after Boyz II Men for years. After disbanding, Jeiris took a 10 year hiatus from music to start a family and worked for many years at various companies. All the while, he continued to sing, but always felt a continuous tug in the direction of music.

Finally in May of 2016, he picked up an acoustic guitar for the first time with the intent to learn and write songs. He found the creation of music intensely therapeutic with the addition of a now favored instrument, the acoustic guitar. This opened up a litany of other opportunities such as music production and frequent live show performances including online live streams.
Since then Jeiris Cook has performed at various local clubs & restaurants all over the New York Metro area. He has been featured in various blogs, done several interviews (most recently making an appearance on Randy Stress’ “Stress Free TV” & “Blueprint Media”) and has organized fundraisers for local businesses. He is also an active volunteer with Musicians On Call, an organization that believes in the healing properties of music.

Over the past few years, Jeiris has been steadily gaining momentum among fans world-wide, while building a discography that includes his most recent releases “Dreams” & “Enough Is Enough” (a collaboration with pop/hip hop recording artist Mindy Davey). With the aid of extraordinaire artistry management company Monae Management, expect to experience new music, photos, content, virtual & live shows across his social media platforms.
