For the second season, MPAC is pleased to present its new showcase series: Performances on the Plaza! Enjoy free pre-show outdoor concerts on the MPAC plaza on selected show nights! The Plaza Performances begin approximately 45 minutes before each show, and last about 30 minutes.
The Morristown Uke Jam - Thursday, October 26th (Jake Shimabukuro)
The Morristown Uke Jam (MUJ) started in 2012 as a group of friends playing ukulele every Wednesday evening on the Morristown Green. Two years later, they started a Meetup group. More than 3,000 people subscribe to their YouTube channel, which has 400 ukulele tutorials of popular songs, and they’ve created 40 themed songbooks of ukulele music. They meet the first Wednesday of every month for a planned play-along, and still jam on the Green every Wednesday in warm weather. Players of all levels are warmly welcomed and encouraged.
Want to be one of our featured performances? We are seeking local self-contained acts, singers and instrumentalists, soloists and ensembles in a variety of genres - Jazz, classical, world, folk, etc to be considered for our series. Performances will be in the Plaza in front of the Mayo Performing Arts Center as audiences arrive for our headline acts. It’s a great chance to be seen and heard and also be listed so people can contact you.
To find out more about this exciting opportunity please email Darius Frowner at Mpacplaza@gmail.com, include a description of your act and any video or promotional materials you have!
