As seen on PBS! Fernando Varela sings what he loves, whether it is a pop hit, an original song, or a Puccini aria. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Florida, he was told to “keep his day job” when rejected by a prestigious music school. That only fired up his determination. Luciano Pavarotti's conductor Giancarlo Chiamarello became a trusted advisor, and he later caught the attention of producer David Foster (Celine Dion, Josh Groban). Having performed everywhere from America's Got Talent to The White House,  his story demonstrates the power of not giving up on a dream.
