Explore the wonders of the galaxy by traveling at the “speed of thought” in this interactive performance that takes students on a virtual tour across the universe through the scientific process. Schools will be invited to participate in an online experience with Janet and NASA astronaut Don Thomas prior to this performance.

BLAST OFF with JANET’S PLANET! Explore the wonders of the galaxy by traveling at the “speed of thought” in this interactive performance that takes families and young audiences on a virtual tour across the universe.

Based on the educational television show that airs on 144 public television stations nationwide, Janet’s Planet fans are in for a real treat as they discover the galaxy from Janet’s futuristic Mission Control. The live show engages and challenges young minds while inspiring STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) potential in every student grades 2-8.  Janet’s Planet promotes critical thinking, scientific literacy, encourages lifelong learning, and brings to light the wonderful creativity that is an integral part of science. As Albert Einstein said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.”

For parents and educators, the Janet’s Planet study guide is action-packed and designed to integrate with Next Generation Science Standards. It is based on curriculum endorsed by NASA and Space Florida and meets Common Core Standards. The show is grounded in educational research and inspires scientific inquiry in an entertaining way.

An innovative show producer and a well known leader in the space education community, Janet Ivey is committed to enriching the lives of children through educational programming. With more than 18 years in the media, she has received 12 Regional Emmy Awards, 5 Gracie Allen Awards and was recently awarded the first Permission to Dream Award by The New World Institute.
