COUNTY COLLEGE OF MORRIS 2024 VISUAL ARTS STUDENT ART EXHIBITION
March 19, 2024 – April 16, 2024
Reception: Tuesday, March 26th, 5 – 7 PM
Enjoy the annual County College of Morris Visual Arts Student Art Exhibition featuring a curated collection of artwork by students in the Visual Arts and Animation Programs at CCM.
The exhibit features over 30 works of art with mediums ranging from acrylic to ballpoint pen to pastels.
LAURIE HARDEN
March 3, 2024 – April 17, 2024
Raised in Morris County, N.J., Laurie attended Kansas City Art Institute majoring in Painting. In 1973 she transferred to the Rhode Island School of Design where she majored in Illustration, studying under Mahler Ryder, Panos Ghikas, and Roger Pontbriand. Ms. Harden was graduated from RISD with a BFA in 1976.
She currently works as an art instructor & freelance illustrator. Some of her clients have included Ladies Home Journal, Redbook, N.Y. Daily News. N.Y. Times, McGraw-Hill, Harper and Collins, Grosset and Dunlap, Pearson Learning , Scholastic, Cricket Magazine Group, Dell Magazines, & Simon and Schuster.
Ms. Harden is a member of The Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, the American Artists Professional League, The Pastel Society America, PSNJ & the Art Centre of NJ, & Allied Artists.
Galleries that currently represent her are The Swain Gallery in Plainfield.
She has exhibited at The Salmugundi Club and the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, Inc., The Broome St. Gallery, The Pen & Brush Club, and The National Arts Club in N.Y.C., The Cathedral Arts Show in Jersey City, Macculloch Hall and the Atrium in Morristown, The Gerald R. Dodge Foundation Artist Initiative Exhibition Space & Gallery at Fairleigh Dickinson University, The Papermill Playhouse, The Blackwell Street Spring Fling, Morris County Art Association Shows, Sussex County Arts and Heritage Counsel Shows, Barrons Art Center, the Ridgewood Barn Gallery, The Wilson School, The Hilltop Country Day School, The Morris Museum, the Hilton Head Art Association International Juried Show and The Slater Museum in Norwich, Ct. among others in both group and solo exhibits.
The Art Upstairs Gallery is located in the balcony lobby of Mayo Performing Arts Center. Exhibits are varied and showcase visual artists from a variety of mediums including watercolor, oil, photography, sculpture and more. Each year, the works of over 200 artists are showcased in group exhibits. Recent groups that have been showcased include the Essex Watercolor Club, New Jersey Photography Forum, Art in the Atrium and the Pastel Society of New Jersey. The Art Upstairs Gallery is a gift of the John and Margaret Post Foundation.
The Starlight Gallery is adjacent to our Starlight Room, MPAC’s reception hall that hosts VIP’s prior to concerts and events. Monthly exhibits have included individual artists such as Nina Nemeth, Lenny McDonald, Mike Dziomba and Paula Pearl. The Starlight Gallery is a gift of Wendy and Jay Birnbaum.
The galleries provide a unique opportunity to marry the visual and performing arts, and provide exposure to artists with an audience that may not normally frequent an art gallery. All artwork is available for purchase, a portion of which will go toward the mission of the non-profit galleries, Art Upstairs and Starlight.
