He has won virtually every major award that exists: three Oscars, four Grammies, three Emmys, a Tony, three Golden Globe awards and the Pulitzer Prize. The composer of the musicals "A Chorus Line," "They’re Playing Our Song," "The Goodbye Girl," and the new "Sweet Smell of Success" (opening in 2002) and films including "The Way We Were," "The Sting," "Sophie’s Choice," "Ice Castles" and "Bananas," Mr. Hamlisch is available for performances as a self-contained solo artist, and also has charts for local orchestra and big band engagements.
