America’s most compelling comedy competition is back this summer when NBC’s Emmy Award-nominated series “Last Comic Standing” returns with new judge Norm Macdonald alongside current judges and comedy icons Roseanne Barr and Keenen Ivory Wayans. Comedy Central roast veteran Anthony Jeselnik will join the fun as the new host of the eight-episode season.

“Last Comic Standing” resumes its search for the funniest comic in the country with its most accomplished panel of judges to date, surprise celebrity guests and a new riveting head-to-head phase of the competition. The season will open up with hilarious auditions by invitation only. The top 100 comics in America will vie for 40 spots. These 40 will then compete in a semifinal round, and the best of the best will emerge, with the top 10 moving into the compelling new head-to-head round. In this phase, the contestants will be paired in a high-stakes single-elimination round of stand-up standoffs.

The top five comedians will move on to the finals, where the funniest of all will take the coveted title of Last Comic Standing and win an incredible prize package worth $250,000, including a development deal for their own television show.

“Last Comic Standing” has a history of showcasing aspiring comics who go on to highly successful careers. Previous “LCS” contestants include Amy Schumer, who currently has her own series on Comedy Central, a huge stand-up following and a burgeoning film career; Cristela Alonzo, who has a self-titled sitcom on ABC; Iliza Shlesinger, whose “Freezing Hot” Netflix special recently premiered; Gabriel Iglesias, who consistently sells out venues across the country; “Late Show with David Letterman” favorite Tommy Johnagin, who will write and star in his own CBS pilot; and Fortune Feimster, a longtime writer for “Chelsea Lately” who will star in the ABC pilot “Family Fortune” from Executive Producer Tina Fey.

“Last Comic Standing” is executive produced by Wanda Sykes, Page Hurwitz and Javier Winnik. The series is produced by Universal Television and Push It Productions.

Ian Bagg

Ian Bagg started his comedy career in his native country, Canada. He proceeded to do all the show business things that every successful Canadian entertainer does. He went to a “Hockey Night in Canada” game on a Saturday night, performed at the “Montreal Comedy Festival,” kissed a fish in New Foundland and a “Comedy Now” special on CTV. So what does a Canadian do when he has done it all? He boards a train to New York City, lives in a youth hostel and ends up on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” “The Late Late show with Craig Ferguson” and “Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” It is not always fun and games. He was forced to do “Make Me Laugh,” “Showcase Comics with Louie Anderson,” “Fridays” on NBC and the “Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn.”

Bagg has acted in Tim Robbins’ “The Cradle will Rock,” “MVP 2,” and “MXP”. Fun fact: he’s the the only known comic to have worked for famed director/producer Judd Apatow and not become a multi-billionaire. Life has been amazing for Bagg being on such diverse platforms as the History Channel, the Food Network, the Biography Channel and being the first ever Canadian to meet three US presidents– Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter and George Bush…although only one was in the White House at the time while he met one on a plane and the other at a hockey practice.

While working red carpet interviews, Ian has pissed off Brad Pitt, been hit with a champagne bottle and asked for chocolate covered pretzels by Alec Baldwin. You probably wonder what kind of man does this and without imploding? The answer is a man whose dog survived a three- story fall and who’s been known to think he is twelve–but may actually be twenty-nine or seventy-two.

Ian went to school to be an explosives engineer, but a lucky chance at an open mic made him the volatile one. He may be in your area sooner than you think, because this manchild does over 100,000 air miles a year…or you could listen to his popular radio/podcast show on XM Radio channel 160 or The Toadhopnetwork (The Ian Bagg Show.) He has performed 2 successful half-hour specials, “Comedy Central Presents” and HBO’s “A Comics Climb” and has been featured in 2 seasons of “Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand-Up Revolution” (Comedy Central). His latest a one-hour special, “Ian Bagg: Getting to F**king Know You” aired on Showtime. He can be seen on the current season of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.”

Dominique

What is there to know about Dominique Witten? Well, if you’re interested in high-powered comedy, everything. From headlining comedy clubs, to showing-out on television, Dominique is the new face of funny in America. She’s created laughs on stages all across the world, including HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, Comedy Central’s “Chappelle’s Show,” O.W.N.’s “Herlarious” and the hit television series “Black Jesus,” now airing on Adult Swim.

As a Washington D.C. native, Dominique honed her skills unprofessionally as a postal worker at the infamous Brentwood Postal facility. As a mail sorter and resident comic, Dominique kept the night-shift alert, and amused while perfecting jokes. At the urging of coworkers and relatives, Dominique sought stand-up work at local comedy clubs, which came pretty easily after a few performances. Dominique attracted diverse audiences with a mixture of political and cultural comedy that made audiences think, and laugh.

She quickly gained notoriety for telling it like it is, raw and uncut. In a pre-internet world, Dominique’s fan-base grew quickly and word of her talent drew attention from HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam.” After a strong performance on Def Jam, Dominique pursued her comedic dreams full-time, moving to New York City to perform amongst the best of the best. Before long, Dominique became a fixture of New York’s comedy scene, performing alongside comics like Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle. During a chance encounter at a small comedy club, Dominique impressed “30 Rock” and “SNL” star Tracy Morgan, who immediately made Dominique the opening act for his “Caroline’s on Broadway” show. Since then, Dominique has wowed audiences from London to LA, and all points between.

In addition to stand-up and television, Dominique has drawn laughs from radio audiences across America during a regular segment on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show.” From this platform Dominique became known as the ‘people’s champ,’ a comedian who speaks for the common man and woman of America. Fans turn to Dominique for funny, informative, and memorable stories and guaranteed laughs.

Run, don’t walk to Dominique’s next show, she’s the new face of funny!

Clayton English

Clayton English is best known for his roles as Peanut on Tyler Perry’s House of Payne as well as Terrence from the film The Preacher’s Kid and Johnathan in Five Days in the A.

English started making waves in the comedy business with his stand out performances on BET’s Hell Date and TV ONE’s Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes.

His talent is not limited to the big and small screen. His stand-up routine has taken him from Atlanta to London. His performance’s are not to be missed he is truly one of the rising new faces in comedy.

Clayton is from Atlanta where his friends know him as the “Prime Minister of Atlantsterdam.” Most recently Clayton has been touring with the UniverSoul Circus as their Ringmaster!

Andy Erikson

Andy Erikson’s love of squirrels and unicorns is only surpassed by her love of performing standup comedy. She intertwines silly one liners with whimsical stories in a playful but thought provoking way. In 2009 Andy won the Aspen Rooftop College Comedy Festival and that same year she was a semi-finalist for the Andy Kaufman Award. In 2010 she took first place in the Funniest Person with a Day Job contest, AND the Duluth’s funniest person competition. In 2013 Andy was a finalist in the Great America Comedy Festival and in 2014 she performed in the prestigious Bridgetown Comedy Festival. Her favorite thing about comedy is making friends.

Michael Palascak

In a lot of ways, he represents the ideal antidote to the sort of unbridled cynicism that pervades much of contemporary stand-up…(He) helps us to remember the escapist value of comedy,” writes Drew Hunt, Chicago Reader about the naturally funny stand-up comedian from the Midwest– Michael Palascak. From his everyday experiences to childhood memories, Palascak conveys his stories innocently with a sarcastic edge. Marah Eakin, A.V. Club, calls Michael “A stand-up guy…He’s nice, charming.” He has officially done stand-up on NBC, TBS, CBS, Comedy Central, Fox, the radio, and the Internet. He has unofficially done stand-up to strangers at the airport. Most recently Michael has been seen on Conan and Season 9 of Last Comic Standing. Last year Rooftop Comedy released Michael’s debut comedy album Job Opening to the digital and audio world. It can be found on iTunes, Pandora, and Michael’s iPhone.
