Background

Contemporary Arts Group (CAG) will present a multi-medium exhibit of images that celebrate the 350th Anniversary of New Jersey in the Mayo Performing Arts Center’s Art Upstairs Gallery July 23, 2014-September 9, 2014.

A Meet the Artist reception will take place on Sunday, July 27, from 4 pm – 6 pm. The reception is free and open to the public.

The Contemporary Art Group, Incorporated, became an independent not-for-profit organization in 2006.  Begun as a special interest group within the Westfield Art Association, the CAG re-defined “contemporary” to mean “alive and currently producing art.”  The group is currently affiliated with the Watchung Arts Center.

The mission of the Contemporary Art Group is to provide a forum for the discussion and exchange of ideas; hare information about the contemporary art world; and offer opportunities for members to show their work and gain recognition.

The CAG offers its members opportunities to exhibit their work – in group and solo shows – at different venues throughout the year.  To this end, information on members and their work is presented to galleries and art venues in New Jersey.  To qualify for exhibits, members must serve on a committee, attend meetings, and help with the shows.  Members must also pay annual dues to the Contemporary Art Group.
